At age 18 I began playing guitar. During this period I was listening to music by artists such as Alice in Chains, Tori Amos, Live, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Metallica and Pink Floyd. I aspired to write music that would incorporate the variety of genres I love – Rock, Blues, Jazz, Funk, Classical and more. The years of my early childhood spent in the United States led me to learn English as a primary language. Though I live in Israel, most of my songs are written in this language rather than Hebrew. A few years of guitar practice and a couple of bands later, I became hooked on Progressive Rock. King Crimson, Jethro Tull, Gentle Giant, Camel, Frank Zappa, E.L.P., Yes and Genesis became a growing influence on my music.
Having built a home studio to produce my songs, I proceeded to combine my skills in technical writing and computer programming along with my passion for music to build websites for me and my band – Magentic – in which I play guitar and lead vocals. In August 28th 2010, after four years of work, we finally released our debut double disc concept album "In the Dream".
Starting April of 2010 I became the propietary soundman of the Syncopa Bar Haifa. Seeing other talented musicians go regularly on stage has given me lots of strength and motivation to be there as well more often. I have also started taking private vocal lessons from Sharon Tova Levi to boost my abilities in this area. These elements and more helped give me the final push I needed to get my solo career going. My first solo gig featuring Elisha Rejovitzky (drums), Dima Alperovich (guitar) and Alexei (bass) was at the Syncopa Haifa on October 9th 2010, the day before my 31st birthday.
Today I continue to record new original material and perform solo shows with my personal band as well as gigs with Magentic and other bands and projects too, while continuing to function as Syncopa's resident live gig sound technician. |
